11e Classical Music Festival

of the Côte de Nacre

16-24 August 2025

To enchant the end of summer

11e The Festival de musique classice de la Côte de Nacre will take place from 16 to 24 August 2025.

Now firmly anchored in its territory, this Festival was born in 2015 on the initiative of a handful of local musicians and elected professionals, eager to overcome the lack of musical encounters on the Mother's Coast during the summer.

Main instigators, Jean-Claude Montac (then professor at the conservatory of music and dance with regional influence and first bassoon at the Caen orchestra) and Alain Lepareur, (at the time vice-president responsible for the culture of the community of the Caen la Mer agglomeration), today president of the Académie musicale de la Côte de Nacre (AMI) took up the challenge and led in their wake ten municipalities and/or partner institutions of the coast: Bénuville, Lion-sur-Mer, Langrune-sur-Mer, Colleville-Montgomery, Hermanville-sur-Mer, Saint-Aubin d'Arquenay, Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer, Ouistreham local community attached to the parish of Douvres-la-Déliverne, the Mémorial de Caen.

From 16 to 24 August, From Bénouville to Saint-Aubin of Arquenay, like a musical itinerary, the Festival will stop every evening in a different place (churches, party hall...). With the desire to make the repertoire and masterpieces of classical music accessible to all, concerts and appointments are multiplied. As a true participatory project, the Festival has, over the years, acquired its letters of nobility.

An original place of artistic transmission

The annual meeting of the AMI derives its reputation from the quality of its services but not only. Between festival and internship, this dual vocation makes him a place of artistic transmission recognized in France and beyond as an association providing a specific training of chamberists.

Its new format makes it possible to play some 30 trainees from all national and international backgrounds (Portugal, Morocco, Ukraine, United States, Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany... alongside professional musicians for everyone's greatest happiness. An immersion supervised by about ten musicians, both professors and concertists, who instill in them mastery of the work, self-control and ease on stage.

During the day, the rhythm is maintained around the work of the music and the practice of the concert in a friendly and warm atmosphere. In the evening, trainees and teachers share the same scene and offer beautiful and great moments of emotion.

From duo to large ensembles, the daily Chamber music classes allow to work major works of the repertoire for strings, winds, voices, piano. The trainees are divided into several groups, thus varying the formations and composers.

All aspects of the profession of chamber musician are discussed: collective work and by desk, setting up, balance, accuracy, style according to the repertoire, adaptation to different training and acoustics according to the place, management of the trac and much more.

Ten concerts on the Côte de Nacre.

The first concert – Saturday 16 August- will be provided by the teaching team to enable trainees to prepare themselves calmly. Then, the academicians will have the opportunity to play alongside both the artists-teachers and in autonomy.

The ambition is to offer an intensive practice of music in a professional situation, essential to acquire mastery of works, ease, self-control and thus enjoy, to the maximum, this unique moment of sharing with the public. It's also the opportunity to discover the brightest talents of classical music
